CMW Spotlight: Gyles

If you’re curious about what New Age pop sounds like check out Gyles tonight!

Canadian Music Week begins today (March 19th-24th). This week The Winehouse Mag will be spotlighting CMW performers.

WM: When did you discover that you wanted to become a musician/singer?

Gyles: I always wanted to sing, it was never a thought or a realization for me it was just something I did.

WM: How do you describe your sound?

Gyles:  My sound… If I had to put a title to it I would say it is “New Age pop/ soul.”

WM: Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

Gyles: My older sister Camille Douglas (R.I.P), JILL SCOTT!!! I love everything about her, she is my professor and she doesn’t even know it!!  Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Billie Holiday… My list can go on forever!!  These women wear their emotions on their sleeve and know just how to deliver it. You have no choice but to feel what they’re feeling.

WM: How does it feel to be part of CMW?

Gyles: I am so humbled and honored to be apart of CMW.

Gyles performs at Clinton’s Tavern tonight @ 12:00AM.
