The Whisky Rocks Showdown is coming to a close very soon. Here I look at some of the contenders that have caught my ear. If you want to check out contestants and vote, click here. Chaka V.
Boy, there’s a lot going on and I find the spectrum fascinating. You get the talented to the good-voice-but-not-memorable to the “who lied to you?” variety.
Note: I won’t name any names but chewing gum as you introduce yourself is annoying and turns off possible voters such as myself, hence why I have no idea how you sound. But thank you for making it easier to skip to the next song. And those with the long intros, I would suggest that you get straight to the nitty-gritty. With so many to listen to, very few of us have the time to indulge your self-indulgence, and this is coming from the queen of self-indulgence. I nibbled from as many entries as I could, and the itsy-bitsy OCD side of me plans to listen to every single one of them, but for now let’s talk about the initial standouts. Here are some of the bands and artists that piqued my interests. I am not ready to commit to anyone of them yet. Just keeping it casual for now.
I like Stuck on Planet Earth. Great sound. Professional presentation. They’ve apparently been grinding away since 2007, according to Wiki, and you can hear that dedication. Kasey Downey was wonderful to listen to, just her and her guitar. The girl has something and I’m definitely interested in hearing more. Finding Chuck is not bad. I don’t know if it’s the cool microphone and room they’re performing in or the song, but I’m liking what I hear. Brothers of North have a catchy radio-friendly song and I appreciate the video. And Alyeus reminds me of the 90s, in a good way.
So these are the 5 entries of the 40 or so artists I’ve listened to so far that got me thinking. As I said, I can be a bit OCD, so I’m going to get through as many of these entries as I can, compile my contenders list and then give you my top 5. I’ll be back folks!
